CONTEST RULES


Jack & Jills
This is now a WSDC event.   Competitors may compete in the role of their choice in their aptitude level.  They may also compete in their age division, however they cannot lead in one aptitude level and follow in the other. 
WSDC RULES
 Strictlys
Competitors may danc​e in two possible aptitude levels; One level for leading and another level for following. You may not lead and follow in the same level. Your primary role must follow WSDC points or one level up based on your partner's point status. Your secondary role can be any level below your primary. 
Pro-ams
Competitors may dance in two possible aptitude levels;
​One level for leading and another level for following. 
Top Teacher
Pros can enter up to 5 students as a lead role and 5 as a follow role in each Division.
Switchlys
Competitors must switch roles regularly and the ability to make fluid transitions will be heavily weighted. They will be judged on the following criteria: 90% swing content, fluidity of switches, level of difficulty of switches, and the three Ts. Weight supported moves are allowed.

Bookend/Reverse Role Routine Divisions

Swing Content & Role:
 60% Recognizable Lead/Follow Swing Dance. Contestants must dance in one of the following role combinations :(FM,MM,FF)

Restrictions & Choreography:  Costumes are allowed and encouraged.  Separate entrances are permitted.  Break-a-ways and side-by-side patterns are permitted. Weight supported moves and lifts are permitted.  An individual is not permitted to dance twice within the same division.

Time/Music: Competitors select their own music. Performance time is a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 3 minutes. The clock begins when the performance starts as determined by the Chief Judge. Time and judging starts at first movement of performance with or without music.

Pro-Am Routine Divisions
Swing Content & Role: 60% Recognizable Lead/Follow Swing Dance. Contestants must dance in one of the following role combinations :(FM,MM,FF)

Restrictions & Choreography:  Costumes are allowed and encouraged.  Separate entrances are permitted.  Break-a-ways and side-by-side patterns are permitted but must not exceed 8 counts without touching. Weight supported moves and lifts are permitted.  An amateur is not permitted to dance twice within the same division.This division is open to all styles of Swing. Contestants must dance in the appropriate division based on their current points according to WSDC. A couple must consist of one leader and one follower. Amateur must be at least 6 years of age. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

To qualify as a partnership in our Pro/Am, there must be an instructor/student relationship. Definition of an Amateur: Someone who HAS NOT RECEIVED payment for Swing instruction.  Definition of a Professional: Someone who HAS RECEIVED payment for instruction in the last three years. Each Pro is limited to five (5) students per Division.
